Morning classes include pilates, ballet technique, men’s technique, pointe, pirouettes, men’s and women’s variations.Afternoon classes include pas de deux, stretching, jazz, modern, kinesiology, and character.The program culminates with a performance of works learned in class. On the first day, you will check in, attend orientation, and take a placement class which is intended to confirm your level of technique.

Levels

If you have actively studied ballet for at least two years, two classes per week, and you are physically fit, you will enjoy a high level of participation. Use this general guide to help you in placement. Decide which category describes you best:

Level 2 – Lower Intermediate – 2 or more years training. Building vocabulary and body awareness, correcting body placement and foot work in connecting steps, learning the 9 body positions, single pirouttes, simple jumps and simple beats.May have started beginning pointe work at the barre.

Level 3A – Intermediate – 4 or more years training.You are feeling confident with combinations, working on double pirouttes, learning attitude turns, &@aacute; la seconde turns, head positions, beated jumps, adagio on one leg. Doing beginning or intermediate pointe work in the center.

Level 3B – Advanced Intermediate – 6 or more years training. Doing complex combinations with change of direction, solid double pirouttes, attitude and á la seconde turns, beated jumps in combination. Using head, port de bras and épaulment effectively.Doing intermediate or advanced pointe work including pirouttes, sissone en pointe and changement en pointe.

Level 4 – Advanced – 8 or more years training. Doing long, complex combinations on relevé with intricate timing and directional changes, 2 or more pirouttes consistently, complex beated jumps and grande allegro. Refining head, port de bras and epaulment. Incorporating stylistic and performance qualities. Feeling comfortable taking technique class on pointe.

The performance (optional) will be on Friday afternoon. Dinner will be Friday night. Saturday will be a half day. Class sizes vary, averaging 15-20 students.
